 Residency

The series "Residency" was inspired by the first five months of lockdown.  I had had five large blank canvases looming over my studio for a long time that I couldn't seem to get myself to attack.  Then came the lockdown and I suddenly had a lot of time in my studio. With no outside distraction,  I was able to focus and participate in my own personal artistic residency.  With each painting I started out with many layers of acrylic and watercolor to create texture.  I would then start collaging rice paper on to the surface, creating an image of an imaginary world map.  I then continued drawing and painting on the linen for many many layers, until I reached the final layer of wax.
